Medifast weight loss planYou might be already eating healthy but if you seriously want to improve your form, you need a lot of protein to build muscles and avoid sugary carbohydrates to preserve your abs! Here are seven easy nutritional diet tips for specific foods which can help you trim fat, build muscles, keep fit and improve overall health:

1. Greek Yogurt
Yogurt manufacturers generally add sugar in their low fat or fat free varieties to make up for lost flavor. Greek yogurt, a type of yogurt that is traditionally made with sheep’s milk, is a lot creamier than the regular plain kind. Its fat free type has more than twice the protein content but just half of the carbohydrates than what the normal plain yogurt contains. For additional flavor simply add honey and fruits such as bananas and berries. Also consider probiotic yogurts like Dannon Activia. These are high in protein and contain beneficial bacteria to help digestive health.

2. Canned Salmon
One good source of protein is chunk white tuna but it is also high in mercury and low in omega-3s as compared to other kinds of tuna. Canned salmon, on the other hand, contains a high quantity of protein and omega-3s but with less mercury.

3. Calorie Countdown Milk
Calorie Countdown Milk is the best source of calcium, minerals, vitamins and proteins but along with all these nutrients is sugar, which is not good if you are working on your waistline. Calorie Countdown is a dairy beverage much like regular milk but with less sugar. In fact, its chocolate flavor has ninety percent less sugar as compared to regular chocolate milk.

4. Spaghetti squash
Whole wheat pasta has more fiber as compared to regular pasta but it has 40gm of carbohydrates per serving. A nutritious substitute to it is spaghetti squash, a vegetable which can be boiled, baked or steamed. After cooking, you can shred it so it resembles pasta but with lesser calories for you to worry about.

5. Protein Shake and a Dose of BCAAs

A protein-and-carbohydrate-rich drink is an excellent way to restore energy after a heavy workout. More so, by adding protein supplements like BCAA powder (branched chain amino acid) to the mixture, a person can further boost his muscle growth. BCCAs are rich in amino acids like leucine, the building blocks of protein, which is essential for the development of muscles. Again, consider adding probiotics for even more health benefits.

6. Green Tea
Green tea is known for fighting cancer and improving overall health, but it has also been proven to reduce stomach fat by escalating the fat oxidation in the abdomen. It has been suggested that a person should have at least 3 cups of green tea daily. An alternative is to take these in the form of green tea extract supplements.

7. Lean Beef
Red meat is excellent for muscle development as it contains a lot protein, vitamins, creatine and calories as compared to other forms of meat such as chicken.

Consider these seven ideas and in no time find yourself on the road to a better and leaner look.
