The lemonade diet is a famous detoxification curriculum discovered by Mr. Stanley Burroughs. This diet became all the rage in the 1940s and still continues to be as popular as in those days. In 1976 “The Master Cleanser” was published as a book. This is strictly a rigorous cleansing program. Weight loss does take place, but it is not the same as fat loss. Most of the weight loss will be due to the release of body fluid.

People often mistake this diet as one type of regular weight loss diet. But the fact is almost half of the lost weight will be regained once the cleanse gets completed. This detox diet is quite difficult to follow as most human beings cannot do without solid food for any length of time. The initial days may be very tough, but it is going to make you feel a lot more motivated when the body begins to show positive results.

The Master Cleanse states that regular cleaning of the body is essential to maintain a healthy body. This dietary regimen will purify the interior of the body from all the harmful chemical and contaminant that goes inside our body in a regular basis. The purification program is at least for 3-10 and may go up to 40 days. The body feels rejuvenated and refreshed within days of starting it.

The diet is basically liquid in nature. It includes drinking of 6-12 glasses of a special concoction made of lemon juice, water and maple syrup with a dash of cayenne pepper. Apart from the lemon drink, one is allowed to drink an herbal laxative tea known as “Smooth Move” and saline water made of sea-salt two times a day.

Once the master cleanse program is over, people may slowly return to normal diet. Orange juice is the first step towards regular food. Then gradually may proceed with vegetable broth, salads, fruits etc. after the diet, people reported lots of changes in the body like respite from pain, arthritis, infections, gout etc. But it is wise to consult a doctor before staring it.
