If you are an athlete like me, then I am pretty sure you know the importance of having a personal sports trainer to help you improve your game. Sure you can go on a self-training program or a DIY training regimen but this is pretty difficult especially if you have no previous experience in doing this or you have no qualified background to dabble into self-training.
As you know, sports activities, training included, entail some risk of injury. This risk is increased if you try to go into it without knowing what you are doing. Hence, it is usually advised to go to a professional first before you adopt or, worse, invent your own training regimen.
I am a basketball player and I know that basketball training does not only involve playing the game. To become a well-rounded player, you need to hone all the aspects of your game. One aspect that I am going for right now is the vertical jumping ability aspect. I have a jump height of 3.5 feet right now. It used to be 2 feet just a couple of months ago.
While it is clear that I am having some clear successes in my quest to learn how to jump higher, what people do not know is how much work I have had to do to get to where I am today. Training is 80% mental toughness and motivation. A good training program is nothing if you can not conquer laziness.
This is why having your own trainer is a good thing because part of a trainer’s job is to motivate and push you. It is the trainer who will steer you to the right direction so that you will arrive at your objective as fast as possible without necessarily increasing the risks of injury. In fact, in theory, injuries should be avoided if you have a trainer because that is his or her job.
Having a personal trainer, the right attitude and the best jump training program is a great combination that will certainly help you succeed in your training. Be sure to have them all in your checklist when looking at your vertical jump training options.
