What Kind Of Weight Bench Is The Right One For You?

There is no shortage of weight benches available on the market today for the fitness enthusiast.  There are countless styles and designs to choose from, not to mention a wide range of prices to consider, and if you do not know what you are doing, you could make the wrong selection.

Do you require a top of the line model, with every conceivable feature and option, or can you get by with a no frills flat weigh bench?  The answer to that question depends in large measure upon what your fitness goals are and what you hope to accomplish with your weight training regimen.  It may also depend on your budget, realizing that flat weight bench prices are typically lower than other types of benches.  Here are a couple of guidelines to use when deciding on a weight bench.

First of all, look for quality.  In fact, purchase as much quality as you can afford.  Avoid the cheapest weight benches that you come across.  The old adage is as true here as anywhere else: you get what you pay for.  A cheaper weight bench is much more likely to fall apart sooner rather than later, and replacing it might end up costing you more than had you just paid more for a better one to begin with.  If you are purchasing a bench off the internet, which can be a good way to save some money, be careful.  Read as many of the online customer reviews as you can find.  If you see lots of negative reviews, especially when it comes to the quality and performance of the unit, it would probably be best to pass on buying that brand or model, and to look for something else.

Secondly, decide ahead of time if you will be buying an inclined weight bench or a flat weight bench.  Making this decision ahead of time allows you to focus exclusively on the type of bench you will be purchasing, and it makes shopping for that bench much easier.  How do you decide which bench to buy?  That depends on the kinds of exercises you plan to do with your bench.  For general fitness purposes, most people can get by with a flat bench, which can also serve as an ab bench.  A more extensive training regimen might require an inclined bench, however.
