Fasting for weight loss can take several forms. Some people chose to include juice drinks during their fast while others eschew all foods and liquids other than water. How Much Sugar Should You Have in a Day?

August 16th, 2011 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Health & Nutrition

When we look at what we eat there seems to be sugar in so many things.  For many of us, having a sweet tooth doesn’t help in making sure we don’t overdo it with the sugar intake.  There is nothing wrong with eating extra amounts on a special occasion, but it isn’t healthy on a regular basis. It has been found that most of us eat at least 22 teaspoons of sugar a day.  We don’t normally think about it like that.  That is quite a bit more than what we really need to be consuming.  For most of us we need to really only be consuming about 3-5 teaspoons a day, this is depending on the caloric intake you work with each day.

Some will look at the amount of sugar you eat in things like teaspoons, while others look at it in forms of grams, while others look at the overall percentage of the diet that it is.  You need to find the way that works for you so that you will remember how to go about it yourself.

A Low Cholesterol Diet Can Satisfy Your Taste

June 16th, 2010 by DietGal | Comments Off | Filed in Health & Nutrition

Whether hardening of the arteries is a health issue or the LDL number is entirely too high, a low cholesterol diet can be achieved without making sacrifices in taste. The key is in eliminating those high cholesterol foods that are also high in saturated fats. This does not mean you need to sacrifice taste. There are many replacement foods or brands that have little to no saturated fat, yet still taste great.

If you live alone and tend to eat frequent frozen dinners, try replacing the usual choices with healthier brands, such as lean cuisine, healthy choice and many others that limit saturated fats. You do not have to necessarily skimp on deserts or the items you like.

Don’t Squander your Workout Results with Bad Food Choices

May 6th, 2010 by DietGal | Comments Off | Filed in Health & Nutrition

It is important to mention how easy it is to squander your hard earned results in the gym with poor food choices, and especially with unhealthy snacks. Nutrition really is worth about 80% of your results – no matter how good your training program is, you can’t just eat whatever you want and expect good results. The truth is that most people would be shocked to learn just how quickly the calories stack up with just a normal amount of snacking on junk food through-out the day, and they would be even more shocked at how much exercise it takes to burn those calories off again.

How to detox your body naturally

April 27th, 2010 by DietGal | Comments Off | Filed in Health & Nutrition

Going for a detox? Expect quite a few brows rise at the very mention of it; the word is still a taboo since most relate it to substance abuse. All that reaction makes detox – or, detoxification – a little daunting thought for us. But a detox could be as plain as a body cleanse that you undertake for getting rid of accumulated metabolic wastes. Let this be the new ‘spring cleaning’ this year.

Why detox?

A detoxified body looks, feels and functions healthier than those with blocked intercellular and inter-body cleansing mechanisms. An overload of toxins thus takes its tolls on the organs, slowing down their functions and that eventually clogs up the system even more. Blame it upon junk/fast foods (sugar, sugar), lifestyles promoting little activity (there goes the lymphatic drainage) or environmental factors (air pollution, pesticides et all), it ends up bringing toxicity up to the brim. However, reduction and then, complete removal of these toxins are possible; it is through a 7 day detox diet.
