The lemonade diet is a famous detoxification curriculum discovered by Mr. Stanley Burroughs. This diet became all the rage in the 1940s and still continues to be as popular as in those days. In 1976 “The Master Cleanser” was published as a book. This is strictly a rigorous cleansing program. Weight loss does take place, but it is not the same as fat loss. Most of the weight loss will be due to the release of body fluid.

People often mistake this diet as one type of regular weight loss diet. But the fact is almost half of the lost weight will be regained once the cleanse gets completed. This detox diet is quite difficult to follow as most human beings cannot do without solid food for any length of time. The initial days may be very tough, but it is going to make you feel a lot more motivated when the body begins to show positive results.

How to detox your body naturally

Going for a detox? Expect quite a few brows rise at the very mention of it; the word is still a taboo since most relate it to substance abuse. All that reaction makes detox – or, detoxification – a little daunting thought for us. But a detox could be as plain as a body cleanse that you undertake for getting rid of accumulated metabolic wastes. Let this be the new ‘spring cleaning’ this year.

Why detox?

A detoxified body looks, feels and functions healthier than those with blocked intercellular and inter-body cleansing mechanisms. An overload of toxins thus takes its tolls on the organs, slowing down their functions and that eventually clogs up the system even more. Almost everybody is interested in their health to some degree or another. For some of us, we try to get a little bit of exercise, get plenty of rest at night and eat a balanced diet. Some people may call this extreme but for those individuals who have tried the Master Cleanse, the results are nothing short of amazing.

The Master Cleanse is actually a fairly simple form of fasting. You are allowed a specific type of drink that includes lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper in specific proportions. Throughout the day, you can drink as much of this concoction as you want but you cannot have anything solid to eat at all. This produces a very fast detoxification that may have some negative affects early in the fast but once they disappear, your body will be cleaning itself at an amazing rate.
