Dr. Phil’s Diet Review

July 29th, 2010 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Tips & Reviews

[ReviewAZON asin="0743526716" display="inlinepost"]Dr. Phil first became popular on the Oprah Winfrey show as one of her regular advice-giving guests.  In fact, he proved so popular that he now has his own show and he released his own weight loss book, titled The Ultimate Weight Loss Solution, in 2003.

Most people are already familiar with Dr. Phil style.  He’s very straightforward about getting to the heart of the manner.  In fact some would say he is rather abrupt, including me, and I’m not that crazy about his methods.  However, if you appreciate his style you may also appreciate his weight loss advice.

Is The 6 Week Body Makeover a Good Way to Lose Weight?

February 10th, 2010 by DietGal | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Tips & Reviews

In this world of weight loss there is always a new method around the corner promising that we will get rid of excess fat quickly. Yes all the fat we got from burgers, bacon and other food will be gone very fast! This attracts many people to these new methods and they think they have finally found the perfect diet that will change their lives. Unfortunately only a handful of these methods work, and the rest are just fad diets or a rehash of other methods published.

One of the methods that does seem to work though is the 6 Week Body Makeover, a diet plan that was developed by Michael Thurmond. Does his name sound familiar? Well it is because he was part of the team in the TV show “Extreme Makeover”.

The Subway Diet Review

January 14th, 2008 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Tips & Reviews

The Subway diet is basically a successful marketing campaign by the fast food franchise, featuring spokesman Jared Fogle who lost over 200 lbs eating Subway sandwiches twice a day and following a rigorous walking plan. During his first three months, he lost over 100 lbs. As a result of an interview that Jared had given about his weight loss and his unique diet, he was contacted by Subway to appear in some tv ads and it just sort of took off from there.

Blood Type Diet Review

January 11th, 2008 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Tips & Reviews

The Blood Type diet is another fad diet that’s been popular lately, but most doctors believe that this diet is merely a gimmick and not based on sound scientific evidence. It certainly does leave some questions unanswered and I don’t much in the way of common sense here. In fact, I think the Blood Type diet is downright silly.

The Blood Type diet was developed by a man named a naturopath named Peter D’Adamo. While he carries the title Dr. in front of his name, it is important to realize that he is NOT a medical doctor. His doctorate is in naturopathy. His book, Eat Right 4 Your Type, says the key to weight loss lies in a human’s genetic makeup – specifically their blood type. He believes that by eating foods that are based on blood type, people have a better chance of losing weight.

The Cactus Diet Plan aka Hoodia

January 8th, 2008 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Supplements

Did you know that the popular diet pill, Hoodia, actually comes from a cactus? It’s true. the name Hoodia actually comes from an ugly looking cactus plant that grows in Africa, near the Kalahari desert.

The Bushmen that live there use the Hoodia cactus, specifically Hoodia Gordonii, to keep them from getting hungry on long hunting trips. The native tribes eat the plant and can survive for days on little or nothing to eat while they search for food. The Hoodia cactus suppresses their desire to eat. It fools the brain into thinking that they are already full.

The discovery of this plant sent pharmaceutical companies after the secret to stopping the obesity epidemic. Taking Hoodia is supposed to suppress the appetite and therefore lead to weight loss. When hunger does start to kick in, Hoodia users can eat healthier foods to fuel the body.

Master Cleanse Secrets Review

January 4th, 2008 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Tips & Reviews

Master Cleanse Secrets is a guide that will teach you how to go on, and stick to, the Master Cleanse Diet.

You probably have already heard about the Master Cleanse Diet. Several celebrities have raved about it. During a guest appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, singer and actress Beyoncé Knowles revealed that she had used this system to lose 22 pounds in 10 days for her role in Dreamgirls. Robin Quivers, best known as Howard Stern’s co-host, lost 73 pounds using the Master Cleanse Diet. And the Jared Leto Master Cleanse results are pretty well known too. Leto, who gained over 70 pounds to portray Mark David Chapman, used the system to lose that excess weight.

So let’s take a look at the Master Cleanse and see how it works

Cabbage Soup Diet Review

January 3rd, 2008 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Tips & Reviews

In addition to reviewing healthy, sensible diets of different types, DietInspector will also be reviewing the perennially favorite fad diets, no matter how silly they are. We figure if someone is searching for the information, you might as well find us, right?

The Cabbage Soup diet is based on -you guessed it – cabbage soup. The dieter consumes large amounts of it in an effort to shed unwanted pounds quickly. This diet has been around for a while and there are still plenty of people that use it when they need to fit into that suit or dress for an upcoming event.

The Cabbage Soup diet is not to be used for more than a week at a time. The caloric intake is so low that staying on in for more than a week can make you ill. It falls under the category of “fad diets” but for some reason still hangs on.

[carousel keywords="Cabbage Soup Diet" category="Books" tag="dietinspector-20"]

Cabbage soup is made with a variety of vegetables, bouillon, and a large head of cabbage. There are no heavily starched veggies like potatoes to give the soup substance. You can season to taste, but you may have to season a lot if you have a sensitive palate.

Each day of the diet is specific in the food to be eaten. Soup and fruit are the only foods for the entire first day. You may find yourself on a natural sugar high from all of the fruit. You will have to eat a great deal in order to fight your hunger.

The second day you have soup and vegetables. Avoid veggies with starch like beans. Fruit is also off limits. But, never fear, you can still eat all of the cabbage soup that you want.
Each day after that has a specific menu for what to eat. To avoid temptation it is recommended that you steer clear of implementing the Cabbage Soup diet during holidays and other times of celebration. Cabbage soup will pale in comparison to cakes, cookies, pasta dishes, and meat. Stay away from temptation to give yourself a fighting chance.

After seven days you may see a weight loss of up ten pounds. Since the shed pounds come off so quickly it is likely those pounds are water weight. Also, you’ll notice that you probably spend a lot more time in the bathroom since Cabbage is the sort of food that makes people have to “go”, if you know what I mean. This in turn makes it more likely that much of the weight will return once dieters resume normal eating habits again. Due to the short length and drastic weight loss that occurs from this diet, there is no exercise routine necessary.

Talk about yo-yo dieting! Unless another, more substantial diet plan is in place, you will probably not see long term weight loss from the Cabbage Soup diet alone. This diet can be a means to building confidence before starting a healthier eating plan as it is not recommended to chose this diet more than one time.

If you’re looking for a very simple diet to follow, then I’d recommend the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet over the Cabbage Soup diet. For a diet that is most sensible and will lead to lifestyle changes that you can stick to in the long term though, I recommend the South Beach Diet.

Atkins Diet Review

January 1st, 2008 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Tips & Reviews

The Atkins Diet was one of the first high protein, low carb diets. And its popularity is no real surprise. One of the things that keeps most of us from trying many diets is the fact that they restrict you from eating some of the foods you love most. But, on the Atkins Diet, not only are you allowed to eat eggs, butter, red meat, and bacon, you are encouraged to do so. Still, while the Atkins Diet has enjoyed quite a bit of popularity over the years, it is still controversial.
