[ReviewAZON asin="0743526716" display="inlinepost"]Dr. Phil first became popular on the Oprah Winfrey show as one of her regular advice-giving guests. In fact, he proved so popular that he now has his own show and he released his own weight loss book, titled The Ultimate Weight Loss Solution, in 2003.

Most people are already familiar with Dr. Phil style. He’s very straightforward about getting to the heart of the manner. In fact some would say he is rather abrupt, including me, and I’m not that crazy about his methods. However, if you appreciate his style you may also appreciate his weight loss advice.
good a high
Dr. Phil’s methodology involves helping people get to the root of what makes them act out in the ways that they do. Basically he is looking for a trigger and once you find the trigger then you have a better understanding of how to deal with that and how to find solutions that stop problems for good. When it comes to weight loss, that trigger that Dr. Phil is looking for is the one that causes you to eat more. So his book’s goal is to help you find those food triggers and learn how to control them.

The weight loss diet itself is nothing special. In fact it is pretty generic. Most of us already know what types of things we need to eat in order to lose weight. You know that you need a balanced diet with the right proportions of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. But most people are probably not picking up Dr. Phils book for his advice about what food to eat. His approach is more about your mental state and understanding that. So if you are looking for guidelines about what exactly to eat then this is probably not the book for you. If he has specific food triggers that you’d like to work on then he may be able to help you.

As the market is filled with more and more lose weight fast programs, magic pills, exercise equipment, and other quick obesity cures, the 6 Weeks To The New You diet program, gets back to the natural basics of food. Instead of trying to find a quick “shortcut” to optimal health, the program focuses on the most important part of good health which is making good food choices on a daily basis.

As a diet coach and nutritional instructor Deb Bixler provides personal coaching along with the diet. The 6 Weeks To The New You program is a weight loss plan that focuses on natural step-by-step changes that anyone can make one day at a time. When consistently applied to your life, the plan will result in a healthy natural weight loss.

Best Natural Diet

The 6 Weeks To The New You is a well-designed and very cost effective program online for weight loss. The affordable natural diet program includes cooking classes, recipes, shopping lists and living skills that give the dieter skill-power so that you do not have to rely on willpower. The program is an affordable solution to the sometimes high cost of weight loss. The plan is internet-based and comes to you each day by email and is supported by personal phone calls from Deb.

Quick – Realistic Weight Loss Programs

The 6 Weeks To The New You program is a realistic approach to weight loss. It is not a program of quick fixes, instead focusing on long term results that everyday people are capable of accomplishing. The program teaches you how to use skills, instead of will power. “You don’t have to radically change your diet,” says Deb, “You can still enjoy all of the foods you love.” The 6 Week program, teaches you everyday skills that keep your family on the right side of heath. Healthy eating choices start at the grocery store, and so does this living program. The 6 Weeks To The New You gives you the skills to make better choices from the beginning.

Although everyone can benefit from this program, it is especially important for children. With childhood obesity on the rise, this program couldn’t have come at a better time. “Most of us don’t know how to make smart food choices because nobody taught us,” says Deb, “With 6 Weeks To The New You, you can teach your kids the fundamentals of a healthy lifestyle that will last their whole lives and give them the gift of a long healthy life.”

If you think Deb Bixler’s diet plan might work well for you, you can always find out more about how the diet program works at www.Wow6Weeks.com.

In this world of weight loss there is always a new method around the corner promising that we will get rid of excess fat quickly. Yes all the fat we got from burgers, bacon and other food will be gone very fast! This attracts many people to these new methods and they think they have finally found the perfect diet that will change their lives. Unfortunately only a handful of these methods work, and the rest are just fad diets or a rehash of other methods published.

One of the methods that does seem to work though is the 6 Week Body Makeover, a diet plan that was developed by Michael Thurmond. Does his name sound familiar? Well it is because he was part of the team in the TV show “Extreme Makeover”.

The principle of this fast weight loss program is called “body blueprinting”. What is this? It is a method in which you determine your own body type and metabolism type, and from there you build a diet using the foods that will help you in your particular case. The problem with other diets is that they are too general and don’t make a distinction between individual people and their unique metabolisms, which translate into poor results.

The 6 Week Body Makeover is a package that contains a lot of things you will need to have the results you want, including meal plans, a recipe book, questionnaires to determine your body type and even exercise bands. Don’t worry, if you don’t like to exercise or don’t have enough time. The program is not heavy on exercises, but they are still needed to tone your body as you drop weight.

Is this program easy? No. You have to keep it real and know that any fast weight loss program will require you to put in some effort. You need to apply your willpower and be disciplined enough to stick to the program and overcome your cravings for sugars.

The Subway diet is basically a successful marketing campaign by the fast food franchise, featuring spokesman Jared Fogle who lost over 200 lbs eating Subway sandwiches twice a day and following a rigorous walking plan. During his first three months, he lost over 100 lbs. As a result of an interview that Jared had given about his weight loss and his unique diet, he was contacted by Subway to appear in some tv ads and it just sort of took off from there.

Eating fast food as a way to lose weight?

Who knew? Of course, this isn’t burgers and french fries we are talking about. I must admit, Subway restaurants provide a different kind of fast food. As far as I know, none of their food is fried. Their subs come with several healthy options for the health conscious eater who doesn’t have time to cook.

As far as Jared’s plan, he ate a six inch sandwich for lunch. Subway offers several six inch sandwiches that have less than six grams of fat per serving. The choices are good for this meal. The sandwiches do not include mayonnaise, oil, or cheese. By adding these ingredients you are also adding calories to the meal, which is why Jared left them off. He did have a bag of Baked Lay’s® potato chips with each lunch however.

For dinner Jared allowed himself a foot long veggie sub. Again, this sub did not contain any oil, mayonnaise, or cheese. All total, he consumed very few calories each day. For a man who weighed in at over 400 pounds, the weight would start to come off rather quickly.

Since Jared began making Subway restaurants chic again, their menu has changed. They offer even healthier fare, including wrap sandwiches. Their potato chip line includes varieties of baked and fat free options as well. Breads include wheat, white, honey oat, Italian herb and cheese, and more. The restaurant’s cheese is not fat free yet, but cheese can be omitted or a lower fat version can be added when you get home.

For combo meals, customers can have yogurt instead of chips along with healthy alternatives to soft drinks. Fresh vegetables are available like always as well as light mayonnaise. The revamp resulted in more choices for customers who want to eat out but not ruin their diet.

Choosing the Subway diet as a way to lose weight is plausible if you happen to like their food. I personally don’t care for Subway sandwiches and much prefer Quizno’s. Boredom with eating the same sandwiches all of the time could lead participants to stray. But, if it works for you, the sacrifice will be worth the rewards. There is something to be said for consistency. If you know what you will eat you have less temptation to look around for unhealthy alternatives. But it seems to me that a tastier and healthier option would be to simply make the same subs at home and take them to work with you.

The Subway experience can get pricey if you eat out every day, but if you were already eating fast food twice a day then it may not make too much difference to your wallet. You simply substitute a visit to Subway for wherever you were going previously. The diet also doesn’t stop you from cooking if you have a family at home. The Subway diet probably works betst for single folks who work long hours. Kids would certainly tire of eating the same sandwiches every day. It worked for Jared and others, but if you have a family, you may want to keep looking.

The Blood Type diet is another fad diet that’s been popular lately, but most doctors believe that this diet is merely a gimmick and not based on sound scientific evidence. It certainly does leave some questions unanswered and I don’t much in the way of common sense here. In fact, I think the Blood Type diet is downright silly.

The Blood Type diet was developed by a man named a naturopath named Peter D’Adamo. While he carries the title Dr. in front of his name, it is important to realize that he is NOT a medical doctor. His doctorate is in naturopathy. His book, Eat Right 4 Your Type, says the key to weight loss lies in a human’s genetic makeup – specifically their blood type. He believes that by eating foods that are based on blood type, people have a better chance of losing weight.

According to research done on blood typing, there are several distinct racial populations that can be defined by their blood groupings. Dr D’Adamo has used this theory to concoct the Blood Type diet was developed. There is no direct evidence or clinical research that proves that this diet is valid however. D’Adamo believes that each blood type group has its own food classification.

Here is a breakdown of how those classifications work in relation to blood type, according to D’Adamo.

O Blood Type
People with blood type O are called “hunters.” This blood grouping is believed to be the one that all others developed from, according to the diet’s creator. Historically, hunters were very physical because they would wrestle wild beasts in search of food for the family. This type of activity required lots of meat. According to D’Adamo, those with the O blood type need to consume high amounts of meat in order to lose weight.

A Blood Type
People with blood type A are known as “cultivators.” Cultivators tilled the soil and planted crops. These people got most of their food from plant sources such as fruits and vegetables. For those with blood type A, avoiding meat as much as possible and sticking with vegetables will give you the protein your body requires.

B Blood Type
Those with type B blood are “nomadic.” Nomads are people who wondered around never settled in any one place. The harshness of their travels helped to keep them strong. Since they had eaten a variety of foods depending on where they stayed, their digestive systems tolerated different foods well. Again, according to this diet plan, this particular blood type group can eat dairy products with no problems.

AB Blood Type
The last blood grouping is AB. This group is classified as the “enigma.” Because this group is mad up of A and B blood components, they can presumably get by with eating plant sources of protein and dairy products. Their digestive systems are good and they can therefore consume a variety of foods.

One question, among many, that has arisen regarding the Blood Type diet is: How does it explain a lactose intolerant person with a blood type of B? There are too many loopholes for this diet to be one that someone could follow to lose weight anytime they needed to. Eating one food group only and eliminating others completely makes zero sense from a nutritional standpoint, unless you have a food allergy, as each food group adds its own nutrients to the equation. The key to most successful weight loss is managing portions of foods from each food group.

Did you know that the popular diet pill, Hoodia, actually comes from a cactus? It’s true. the name Hoodia actually comes from an ugly looking cactus plant that grows in Africa, near the Kalahari desert.

The Bushmen that live there use the Hoodia cactus, specifically Hoodia Gordonii, to keep them from getting hungry on long hunting trips. The native tribes eat the plant and can survive for days on little or nothing to eat while they search for food. The Hoodia cactus suppresses their desire to eat. It fools the brain into thinking that they are already full.

The discovery of this plant sent pharmaceutical companies after the secret to stopping the obesity epidemic. Taking Hoodia is supposed to suppress the appetite and therefore lead to weight loss. When hunger does start to kick in, Hoodia users can eat healthier foods to fuel the body.

Taking Hoodia and following an exercise plan leads to weight loss according to those who swear by the substance. Natural Hoodia has no side effects and can affect the appetite after the first pieces are eaten. Pharmaceutical companies are trying to synthesize Hoodia for market to the rest of the world.

The cactus diet plan is still not perfected. The Cactus diet involves taking supplements that contain Hoodia. There are many types of Hoodia and you may be buying a pill that claims to suppress the appetite but may not. The amount of Hoodia may not be enough to cause the same effects that the Bushmen experience from eating the actual plant. Since this plant has not been found outside of this desert-like region of Africa, to follow the Cactus diet plan, people have to rely on commercial pills that make boastful claims about their product having the same effects as the original Hoodia plant, but those claims are completely untested and the substance itself is hard to reproduce with any accuracy so you never know if you are getting the same efficiency in any particular brand of pills that you take.

Those who buy products that contain Hoodia should beware. We all know what they say about something that seems too good to be true. Until further notice, watch what you eat and exercise regularly to lose weight. Set aside the gimmicks.

In addition to reviewing healthy, sensible diets of different types, DietInspector will also be reviewing the perennially favorite fad diets, no matter how silly they are. We figure if someone is searching for the information, you might as well find us, right?

The Cabbage Soup diet is based on -you guessed it – cabbage soup. The dieter consumes large amounts of it in an effort to shed unwanted pounds quickly. This diet has been around for a while and there are still plenty of people that use it when they need to fit into that suit or dress for an upcoming event.

The Cabbage Soup diet is not to be used for more than a week at a time. The caloric intake is so low that staying on in for more than a week can make you ill. It falls under the category of “fad diets” but for some reason still hangs on.

[carousel keywords="Cabbage Soup Diet" category="Books" tag="dietinspector-20"]

Cabbage soup is made with a variety of vegetables, bouillon, and a large head of cabbage. There are no heavily starched veggies like potatoes to give the soup substance. You can season to taste, but you may have to season a lot if you have a sensitive palate.

Each day of the diet is specific in the food to be eaten. Soup and fruit are the only foods for the entire first day. You may find yourself on a natural sugar high from all of the fruit. You will have to eat a great deal in order to fight your hunger.

The second day you have soup and vegetables. Avoid veggies with starch like beans. Fruit is also off limits. But, never fear, you can still eat all of the cabbage soup that you want.
Each day after that has a specific menu for what to eat. To avoid temptation it is recommended that you steer clear of implementing the Cabbage Soup diet during holidays and other times of celebration. Cabbage soup will pale in comparison to cakes, cookies, pasta dishes, and meat. Stay away from temptation to give yourself a fighting chance.

After seven days you may see a weight loss of up ten pounds. Since the shed pounds come off so quickly it is likely those pounds are water weight. Also, you’ll notice that you probably spend a lot more time in the bathroom since Cabbage is the sort of food that makes people have to “go”, if you know what I mean. This in turn makes it more likely that much of the weight will return once dieters resume normal eating habits again. Due to the short length and drastic weight loss that occurs from this diet, there is no exercise routine necessary.

Talk about yo-yo dieting! Unless another, more substantial diet plan is in place, you will probably not see long term weight loss from the Cabbage Soup diet alone. This diet can be a means to building confidence before starting a healthier eating plan as it is not recommended to chose this diet more than one time.

If you’re looking for a very simple diet to follow, then I’d recommend the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet over the Cabbage Soup diet. For a diet that is most sensible and will lead to lifestyle changes that you can stick to in the long term though, I recommend the South Beach Diet.

The Atkins Diet was one of the first high protein, low carb diets. And its popularity is no real surprise. One of the things that keeps most of us from trying many diets is the fact that they restrict you from eating some of the foods you love most. But, on the Atkins Diet, not only are you allowed to eat eggs, butter, red meat, and bacon, you are encouraged to do so. Still, while the Atkins Diet has enjoyed quite a bit of popularity over the years, it is still controversial.

What Is the Atkins Diet?

Developed by Dr. Robert Atkins, a noted cardiologist and nutritionist, the Atkins Diet is based on the principle that you can lose weight by eating more proteins, and eating fewer carbohydrates.

Usually, your body burns carbohydrates to provide it with the energy it needs. Eating fewer carbohydrates means there are fewer carbohydrates in your body to burn. So, in order to get the energy it needs, your body is forced to burn fat in place of burning carbs. And, as a result, you lose weight.

Why People Are Attracted to the Atkins Diet?

People are attracted to the Atkins Diet for many reasons.

One of the biggest is that it allows you to eat foods most diets don’t, like butter and red meat. On many diets, both are usually either drastically reduced, or removed from your diet entirely. But, with the Atkins Diet, you can eat as much butter and red meat as you want.

Also, this isn’t a starvation diet. Rather than restricting how much you can eat (for example, only allowing you to eat a certain amount of calories a day) the Atkins Diet controls what you can eat. So, whenever you get hungry, you can eat something, and probably something you really like.

Finally, you can lose weight pretty fast on the Atkins Diet. You can lose from 6 to 10 pounds in the first week, and 1 to 3 pounds each additional week. Losing 6 pounds in a week while eating bacon every morning is certainly appealing.

The Drawbacks of the Atkins Diet

While the Atkins Diet is certainly effective, it can have some drawbacks.

While burning fat helps you lose weight, it can also result in a condition called ketosis. Side effects of this condition can include dizziness, nausea, fatigue, insomnia, and bad breath.

A lot of the foods you can’t eat, or can only eat in low quantities, while on the Atkins Diet provide your body with important nutrients. For example, during some stages of the Atkins Diet, you are only allowed very little, if any, milk. But milk is a source of calcium, which is needed to build strong bones. Fortunately, many of those nutrients can be replaced with dietary supplements.

One of the biggest drawbacks of the Atkins Diet is the lack of variety. Eating bacon every day might sound great, but even bacon can get boring after a while. And, eventually, you’ll start missing high-carb foods like breads, potatoes and pasta. And if you’re anything like me, that will happen sooner rather than later

Lack of variety in food choices might make the Atkins Diet difficult to maintain long term, which is why we recommend DiettoGo instead.
