Diets that Work – My Top Picks for Easy Diets that Work

February 23rd, 2010 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Tips & Reviews

When it comes to finding Diets that work, there are lots of options! The fact is, most reasonably constructed diet plans will work. So if you can avoid fad diets and focus on those weight loss programs that are designed for healthy weight loss, you’ll be well ahead of the game. But with so many diets available, how do you find the right diet that works for you? Some of it is trial and error, but I have a few ideas about what I look for in a diet and I know what diets I’ve been able to successfully lose weight with, so here are my thoughts on the matter.

First of all, I want a diet that does not require tons of cooking and fiddling around with ingredients. I’m not a chef and I don’t want to spend tons of time in the kitchen. I like easy diets and any diet that requires a lot of time in the kitchen, where the food prep takes longer than the eating, isn’t my idea of an easy diet plan!

I’m also not a huge fan of weighing and measuring every bite of food I put in my mouth and I hate having to look up and register all of the calories I eat every day. It’s time consuming, annoying and the majority of the time I’ll just forget to do it anyway, so what happens is I’ll spend the next day guessing on what I ate the day before and estimating the quantities. That’s the fast track to failure for me as I’ll just give up out of frustration.

What’s on the Diet to Go Menu?

January 21st, 2010 by Inspector | Comments Off | Filed in Diet Tips & Reviews

Are you planning on trying out the Diet to Go program? Diet to Go is a popular diet delivery service. It has a few different weight loss plans with different menu options, so let’s take a look at what’s on the Diet to Go menu, depending on what plan you decide to order.

Currently Diet to Go has three different meal plans available. So no matter how you like to diet, one of the plans should hopefully suit you. The three versions are the low fat diet meal plan, the low fat vegetarian meals and the low carb diet meal plan.

The two low fat plans are designed to provide between 1200 and 1600 calories per day. For the low carb menu, the meal plan is designed to keep you just under 30 net carbs per day and the calorie levels are about the same as the other two plans.

So what’s on each Diet to Go menu? Let’s take a look.

Low Fat Diet Plan Menu

With Diet to Go’s low fat plan, you will get lots of low fat versions of traditional favorites. Get ready for muffins, blueberry pancakes and even cinnamon raisin bagels for breakfast. Other days, you might enjoy a nice Ratatouille omelet or an egg quesadilla.

For lunch, try the curry chicken salad, a turkey ham salad or the chicken alfredo melt. That tastes quite delicious. There’s also soups and turkey burgers to enjoy too.

At dinner time, Diet to Go satisfies your appetite with comfort foods like Italian Meatballs on Fettucini or Penne Pasta with Turkey. There’s even Chicken stroganoff. it doesn’t end there though — Salmon is on the menu, as well as lobster and veggie ravioli, and red Snapper. You won’t find much beef on the menu, but I’m sure you won’t miss it, not when it’s being replaced by things like Mexican style Burritos, Macaroni and cheese and Barbecue Chickena and Sauce!

Low Fat Vegetarian Menu

For the low fat menu on Diet to Go, you’ll find many of the same foods for breakfast that are available in the regular low fat plan. The big changes come in the Lunch and Dinner menus, where you will find things like Spanish Stuffed peppers, Portobello Lasagna, Veggie Burgers, White bean burritos, and Asian Soy over Sesame Rice.

There’s lots of variety in Diet to Go’s Vegetarian menu and you can tell they’ve put a lot of thought into it, instead of just taking the easy way out with tofu and veggie burgers. The plan is designed with lacto-ovo vegetarians in mind however so if you don’t eat eggs or dairy, then you might have a some issues since a fair number of dishes contain one of those products, or both. If you were allowed to pick and choose certain dishes however, it looks like there’s a fair few vegan options, so you might want to consult with the Diet-to-Go folks about that possibility.

Low Carb Menu

Now this is my favorite menu that Diet to go offers! I’m not much for muffins and bagels. I’ll take turkey sausage, steak and eggs and a cheese omelet with Spinach & Salsa for breakfast instead, please! Of course, not all at once *g*

For a low carb lunch, how about some Charmoula Pork Loin with Spinach and Brocccoli, or a nice Chicken Fontina. Or maybe you can enjoy some chicken Parmesan or an old Fashioned Pot Roast or Meatloaf.

For dinner, get ready for Chicken Marsala, Prime Rib with red Wine sauce or Baked Salmon with Creamy Dill Sauce. There are a lot of delicious options just like this.

For each of the three diet plans, Diet to Go operates on an five week rotation, so you shouldn’t get bored with any of your meals. Yes, there are some repeats week to week, but not many. In fact, as far as I can tell I think they are mostly on the low fat breakfast menu, which I certainly don’t mind so much since I tend to eat the same exact thing for breakfast every day anyway. It is just easier. For more info, you can also read my Diet to Go Review, or just head straight to their website from the link below and save some money on your first order!
