Home Exercise Gym First Steps

Building my own home exercise gym was one of the smartest things I have ever done.  With a small to modest investment, I was able to save thousands of dollars in the long run by not having to pay for a gym membership.  One of the most important lessons I learned is that in the beginning, start with exercise equipment that is versatile, can work many muscle groups and that can perform several different exercises.

If you are looking at purchasing a good squat rack, then one company that you have probably come across is Marcy. Marcy is a good name from Iron Company that has been making various fitness products for several years. Included in the equipment that the Marcy brand makes are dumbbells, weight benches, and squat racks (to name just a few).

When you look at the offerings in the Marcy squat rack line, you can tell by the price what type of equipment you are getting. In general, Marcy equipment is decent quality, but not the most expensive nor top of the line, and that is a pretty good description of their squat rack equipment. For around $250 you can get a combo squat rack, bench press set that is decently built and comes with your standard quality attachments. This is a pretty good place to start if you are looking for an economical way to put together your own home gym workout.

Let’s face it. Today’s economic climate is tough! We must all cut our costs and limit our budgets in order to get by and pay the bills and one of the first costs to be cut is for things like fitness equipment. While it might be tempting to think that you can not afford to exercise at all due to the cost, I think you’ll find that it really isn’t the case if you start to think outside the box.
