Master Cleanse Pros and Cons

Before you go on the lemonade diet you probably want to carefully weigh the Master Cleanse pros and cons. Every cleanse or diet has its benefits and drawbacks and the Master Cleanse is no different. The pros of course are the reason you want to go on the Master Cleanse in the first place. Many cleansers report improved health, great skin, lots of new energy and some decent weight loss as a result of spending at least 10 days doing the Master Cleanse.

Stanley Burroughs designed the Master Cleanse to be both the detoxification program and a reducing program, which is a fancy old-fashioned way of calling it a diet. Like any diet however you need to continue healthy eating habits if you expect to see your results stick with you. But one of the cons of a program like the Master Cleanse is that you can gain the weight back pretty quickly if you slip back into your old eating habits, partially because the lemonade diet is so low in calories. Depending on how much of the Maple syrup you consume you can expect to get between 600 and 1200 cal per day. Mr. Burroughs allows for adjustments to the quantity of Maple syrup for those trying to lose weight, so you may be getting even fewer calories.

The lemonade diet is a famous detoxification curriculum discovered by Mr. Stanley Burroughs. This diet became all the rage in the 1940s and still continues to be as popular as in those days. In 1976 “The Master Cleanser” was published as a book. This is strictly a rigorous cleansing program. Weight loss does take place, but it is not the same as fat loss. Most of the weight loss will be due to the release of body fluid.

People often mistake this diet as one type of regular weight loss diet. But the fact is almost half of the lost weight will be regained once the cleanse gets completed. This detox diet is quite difficult to follow as most human beings cannot do without solid food for any length of time. The initial days may be very tough, but it is going to make you feel a lot more motivated when the body begins to show positive results.

Almost everybody is interested in their health to some degree or another. For some of us, we try to get a little bit of exercise, get plenty of rest at night and eat a balanced diet. The Master Cleanse is actually a fairly simple form of fasting. You are allowed a specific type of drink that includes lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper in specific proportions. Throughout the day, you can drink as much of this concoction as you want but you cannot have anything solid to eat at all. This produces a very fast detoxification that may have some negative affects early in the fast but once they disappear, your body will be cleaning itself at an amazing rate.
