If you are looking for a weight loss system that is completely conducted online, then you might be looking for DietWatch. It seems similar to eDiets, but without quite the number of various weight loss programs that eDiets has available.
There are four different diets that you can choose from, depending on your needs. Upon registration, you will have access to the Diet Watch personalized meal plans, customized shopping lists, tutorials on weight loss, suggestions for exercise and a program to follow, as well as social features such as forums, chat rooms and blogs.
In addition, you will also have access to a nutrition tracker and an exercise tracker and automatic alerts and reminders. These can help you track your progress and keep you on plan. And when you need it, there are experts on hand to help you with any advice you might need. The plan director is a dietician named Jennifer May.
The DietWatch plans seem to have a good variety in them. You have four basic diets taht you can pick from and then personalize. There’s the No Restrictions Plan (no particular foods are totally eliminated); a Reduced Carbs Plan; a Heart Healthy/Mediterranean diet plan; and a Vegetarian diet.
The reduced carbs diet is NOT a low carb diet, as it only reduces carbs by 40%. Personally, I do not think this is a big enough reduction in carbs to make it worthwhile, so if you really prefer or do better with a low carb diet, I would look elsewhere for the right plan for you. South Beach Diet or Atkins would be the way to go for that.
However, their Mediterranean diet option, as well as their vegetarian and plain vanilla weight loss program all seem to have promise.
Once you have selected your diet, then there are tools to create shopping lists for the recipes chosen and a way to keep up with nutritional information on the foods that you eat. The database created by Diet Watch lets members track down the nutritional facts on just about any food that exists.
The Diet Watch plan offers a holistic approach to dieting. They provide articles and programs which center on the self-esteem of the dieter. Body image, positive reinforcement, and emotional issues are dealt with here so that members learn about their own barriers to weight loss and how to combat them.
And DietWatch doesn’t leave you with just a diet. They also focus attention on exercise. Filling out a free profile assists Diet Watch in developing an exercise program specifically for you. The program offers exercise suggestions and provides a tracking tool to keep up with your progress.
The website also offers support for each of its members. Chat rooms, message boards, and blogs are available for use by members. Experts behind the Diet Watch program can be sought out for advice with specific issues. There is encouragement from staff and fellow members to uplift members when they are in tight spots or feel like giving up.
The Diet Watch plan offers a corporate wellness program that can be used by companies as well. It’s proven that healthy employees are also happier ones. Get your company on a trend towards a healthy mind and body.
An advantage to the program is that it is accessible from anywhere since it is online. Professionals are just a click away for support and tips. Dieting buddies are also close at hand when you need a friend or are looking for accountability partners.
Costs for using Diet Watch are quite reasonable too. Their yearly plan is their best deal, representing a 50% savings over their quarterly option. The annual membership fee is $77 and at the end of the 12 months, the plan is automatically renewed (unless you cancel in advance).
The other option is to pay quarterly. DietWatch describes this as a “weekly plan”, but that isn’t accurate since you can’t pay weekly or run your membership for one week at a time. It is actually a quarterly payment plan (covering 13 weeks). Each quarterly payment is $38.87. Over the course of a year, this adds up to $155.48, quite a bit more than the annual option.
On the other hand, there are no refunds allowed with the annual plan so if you cancel early you will be out the money. The quarterly plan, though, allows you to cancel anytime after your 8th week and you can get a refund on the unused portion of your membership.
Which option should you choose? That depends on how long you think you will want to use the program. If you plan on only six months, that will cost you just over $77 if you split they payments in two. If you really think you’ll get a year’s worth out of the program though, you can pay $77 upfront and have a whole year.
Another option to consider. Sign up for three months to check the plan out. If you really like it, I’m sure you can always renew for the annual program.
